Simple interest

Interest is extra money the bank pays you to save, or that you pay when you borrow. Simple interest formula: I = P × R × T ÷ 100. P = principal (money saved), R = rate %, T = time in years.

I = P × R × T ÷ 100
Principal 10,000 F, rate 5%, time 2 years
I = 10,000 × 5 × 2 ÷ 100 = 1,000 F

Direct proportion

Direct proportion: as one thing grows, the other grows by the same factor. 1 pen = 200 F, so 5 pens = 5 × 200 = 1,000 F.

Inverse proportion

Inverse proportion: as one grows, the other shrinks. Example: if 3 workers finish a job in 6 days, 6 workers finish in 3 days. More workers → less time.
